Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Conspicuous elevation formed of phonolitic lava which extruded within two stages, possibly inside maar crater. During first stage, lava formed flat body, during second one typical lava dome. Cretaceous sandstones of Teplice Beds underlye phenolite body. Great part of this area is situated behind border in Germany. The locality is situated in the Protected Landscape Area "Lužické hory - the Lusatian Mountains.".
